Residential home with a GAF Timberline Solar shingle roofing system

Full Roof Replacement + Integrated Solar

Solar Built Into
Your New Roof.

Westmark installs qualifying full roof replacements with GAF Timberline Solar® energy shingles. The roofing system goes in under one GAF contract, while GAF manages the solar and electrical scope — from permitting and battery installation through commissioning and utility Permission to Operate.

Get an instant budget estimate in about 60 seconds using aerial roof data — no appointment or sales call required.

Solar is offered exclusively as part of a full roof replacement — using GAF Timberline Solar.

We do not offer standalone solar installations. Timberline Solar energy shingles are installed by Westmark as part of a complete GAF roofing system, with the solar and electrical scope contracted through and managed by GAF.

Solar is part of the roof — not bolted on after. Westmark only installs solar as integrated GAF Timberline Solar shingles, included in your full roof replacement scope. If you're looking for a standalone solar install on an existing roof, we're not the right fit.

Solar contracting disclosure: The homeowner enters into a single contract directly with GAF covering the complete roof-and-solar project — including Westmark's roofing price — with Westmark Roofing listed as the installation partner. GAF is responsible for the solar and electrical scope, applicable solar permitting, licensed electrical work, system commissioning, and utility Permission to Operate. Westmark performs the roof replacement, obtains the roofing permit, and presents one final contract price for the entire project.

The Problem with Bolted-On Solar

Why Rack-Mounted Panels
Can End Up Costing You Twice.

When solar gets bolted onto an aging roof, the costs add up fast.

Bolted-On Solar — The Trap

  • Rack mounts can add many new penetrations to an aging roof deck
  • Third-party penetrations can affect roof warranty coverage, depending on the installation
  • You may pay twice for labor — once for the roof, again to redo it for solar
  • Scheduling conflicts between two separate crews
  • Accountability can be unclear when something goes wrong

The Westmark Way

  • Roof and solar installed together as one integrated GAF roof-and-solar system
  • GAF Timberline Solar shingles install flush — no rack mounts
  • Penetrations designed into the roof system from day one
  • One project — Westmark handles the roofing scope throughout
  • Roofing and solar protection backed by the applicable GAF warranty documents

The Solar Roof That Actually Looks Like a Roof.

GAF Timberline Solar shingles install just like normal asphalt shingles — nailed directly into the roof deck — and lay flat instead of sitting on rack mounts. The result: a clean roofline, coordinated GAF warranty protection, and penetrations designed into the roof system from day one.

Built Into the Roof

One Continuous Roofing System — Top to Deck.

Timberline Solar is installed as part of your roof — deck, leak-barrier, underlayment, shingles, and solar energy shingles — all manufacturer-matched, with the roofing system installed by Westmark and the electrical scope handled by GAF's licensed team.

  • Installs like a standard shingle — no rack-and-bracket assembly
  • Hand-nailed with 6 nails per shingle — never staples (GAF Golden Pledge spec)
  • Eligible for GAF system warranty coverage
  • Designed for the same lifespan as the surrounding roof
  • Installed by Westmark as part of your full roof replacement

Watch It Go On

See GAF Timberline Solar Installed.

A short look at how the nailable solar shingle system goes on and performs — straight from GAF.

How It Works

From Quote to Power — All in One Roof Replacement.

One contract, one project. Westmark installs the roofing system; GAF contracts for the full project and manages the solar and electrical scope.

Step 1

Roof + Solar Quote

Westmark develops the roofing scope, obtains the preliminary Timberline Solar system quote from GAF, and presents one final contract price for the entire project.

Step 2

One Contract with GAF

You sign a single contract directly with GAF that covers the complete project — including Westmark's roofing price — with Westmark listed as the installation partner. Westmark obtains the roofing permit, while GAF handles the applicable solar and electrical permitting.

Step 3

Integrated Roof Installation

Westmark removes the existing roof and installs the complete roofing system, including the nailable Timberline Solar energy shingles, in accordance with the applicable installation requirements.

Step 4

Electrical Work + Battery

GAF provides the licensed electrical team responsible for conduit, electrical equipment, battery storage, inspections, and system commissioning.

Step 5

Utility Approval

GAF handles utility approval and Permission to Operate before the system is activated.

Battery Storage

Designed Around California's NEM 3.0 Environment.

Westmark normally quotes Timberline Solar projects with battery storage. Under California's current NEM 3.0 structure, storing solar energy for use later in the day can materially improve how homeowners use the power their roof generates. A battery-free design may still be available when appropriate, but battery storage is the standard configuration we present.

  • Store daytime solar production for evening use
  • Improve onsite use of the energy the system produces
  • Optional backup capability when configured for outage protection
  • Final battery brand, capacity, placement, and availability determined during system design

The Technology

The World's First Nailable Solar Shingle.

GAF Timberline Solar isn't a panel system — it's a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roof. The shingle is the solar, and it installs alongside standard GAF Timberline shingles with the same crew and tools.

57 W

Per energy shingle

Each shingle generates clean solar power and lays flush like a standard shingle.

~1.7 kW

Per roofing square

About 30 energy shingles cover one square of roof.

3.36 lb

Per square foot

Installed system weight — comparable to a standard architectural roof.

Installs on most residential roof slopes.

BIPV

Built-in photovoltaic

The shingle is the solar — no racks, no separate panels.

Coordinated GAF Protection

Coordinated Roof and Solar Protection.

Because the solar is built into the roof, both sides of the project carry coordinated GAF warranty protection — backed by the applicable GAF warranty documents.

The Roof: GAF Golden Pledge

Qualifying roofing components and workmanship are protected by the GAF Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty, subject to its eligibility requirements and complete terms.

The Solar: GAF Solar Max Limited Warranty Addendum

Qualifying Timberline Solar components, electrical workmanship, and energy-production coverage are addressed through the applicable GAF Solar Max Limited Warranty Addendum, subject to its eligibility requirements, exclusions, and complete terms.

The Golden Pledge Limited Warranty and Solar Max Limited Warranty Addendum are separate warranty documents with different terms, covered components, limitations, and exclusions.

Ways to Pay

Two Straightforward Ways to Fund Your Project.

Pay Outright

Pay for your roof-and-solar project by cash or check — no financing, no interest, no monthly payment.

Third-Party Financing Through GAF

Because your Timberline Solar contract is entered into directly with GAF, GAF makes third-party financing options available for the project. Financing terms, eligibility, and approval are determined by GAF and its financing partners — Westmark itself does not offer or arrange financing.

A note on incentives: the federal residential solar tax credit is no longer available as of 2026. Some local utility incentives may still apply — eligibility varies, and confirming it is the homeowner's responsibility. Westmark does not provide tax or financial advice; consult a qualified professional about your specific situation.

Built-In vs Bolted-On

Why Solar Built Into Your Roof Beats Rack-Mounted Panels

Westmark only installs solar built into your roof — as part of a full roof replacement using GAF Timberline Solar. Here's how that compares to the typical bolted-on approach.

Westmark

Built-In Solar

  • Built into the roof
  • No racks
  • One contractor
  • Clean, low-profile design

Typical Approach

Traditional Solar

  • Mounted panels
  • Multiple contractors
  • Visible hardware
  • More failure points

GAF Timberline Solar

Integrated — Westmark

Traditional Solar Panels

Rack-Mounted (third-party)

How it's installed
Solar shingles nailed flat to the deck as part of the roof
Aluminum rack-and-bracket bolted onto an existing roof
Roof penetrations
Designed into the roof system from day one
Rack mounts can add many penetrations after the roof is done, depending on the installation
Aesthetic difference
Roof-integrated, low profile, blends with surrounding shingles
Visible panels mounted above roof on rack structure
Lifespan alignment
Same lifespan as the roof — replaced together
Often outlasts the roof underneath, forcing removal & re-install at re-roof
Warranty coverage
Coordinated GAF protection — Golden Pledge for the roof, Solar Max Addendum for the solar (separate warranty documents)
Roof and solar warranties from different providers; penetrations may affect roof coverage, depending on the installation
Maintenance implications
Maintained as part of the roof system
Panel cleaning + rack inspection separately
Who installs it
Westmark installs the roofing system; GAF's licensed team handles the solar electrical scope
Separate solar contractor — separate company, separate scope
Offered by Westmark?
Yes — our exclusive solar option
No — we do not offer standalone or rack-mounted solar installs

Specifications and warranty terms vary by GAF product line and project scope. GAF Timberline Solar is offered by Westmark exclusively as part of a full roof replacement.
